Applio - Finalists at Venturefest

From over 300 entrants Applio has made it to the final 12 - great news.

Pitchfest is a unique pitching competition - an opportunity for 12 finalist entrepreneurs with start-up, early stage and growth businesses to increase their profile in front of a national audience of investors. This year's finalists will be seeking investments totalling over £3.2m.

Jointly organised by Aston University, the University of Birmingham and the University of Warwick, you are invited to come along to the Pitchfest Heats to watch the finalists deliver their presentations to expert panelists.

The top three pitches will be announced during the Pitchfest Final. They will deliver their presentation again with the overall winner decided by audience vote.
Pitchfest will sit alongside the main conference and exhibition which offers great opportunities to network, learn and access support to help develop innovation and growth in your business

20 year Anniversary - Sony PlayStation 1

So 20 years on and it's the anniversary of the PlayStation 1. 20 years ago Nintendo commented in the press that "We do recognise Sony as a major player, it's just we are confident that we know video games better than anyone, and we feel supremely confident that at every technical turn the Ultra 64 is a superior machine to the PlayStation". The key difference between the PlayStation and the Ultra was that the PlayStation utilised the CD ROM and the Ultra was cartridge based. I was not aware until I started to research the launch of the PlayStation, the original launch that is. June 1991 in Las Vegas, that the PlayStation was a originally meant to be a joint venture between Sony & Nintendo, a partnership that would project both organisations into the new world of multimedia entertainment.
