Once upon a time, many, many years ago.......... Once upon a time, many, many years ago..........in every culture upon the planet, humans have used storytelling as an effective means of passing information from one generation to the next. Why? Stories connect with our emotional and inquisitive side, if told well, they hold your attention and imagination. Most of us have had the pleasure of telling 'made-up' fictional stories to children at bedtime, seeing the calm, inquisitive and totally engrossed body language, when normally the child only operates at 100 miles per hour! Stories are the oldest form of learning & development, due to the emotional connection that stories trigger, retention of information vastly increases. In the modern world this form of interaction is reflected in numerous forms - Films, Books, TV, Social Interactions, Games etc. and more importantly still covers all ages and cultures. Video play: University turns the science of microeconomics into a great game Playconomics , the game in question, debuted July 2014 as a side project. In 2015 it was used to deliver an introductory microeconomics course in three universities  to more than 4000 students. "It was the first gamified course in economics ever created, worldwide," Motta said. "And the game was a hit. We observed a 10 per cent increase in enrolment in semester one, 2015, and a staggering 35 per cent increase in semester two, probably due to the word-of-mouth generated in semester one." http://www.smh.com.au/technology/innovation/video-play-university-turns-the-science-of-microeconomics-into-a-great-game-20160216-gmv4ca.html The interesting part of this game / university is the research, it provides / provokes some interesting discussions.  http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0883035514000810 NB: There is a cost for the research document.

There is an abundance of data available with eye-watering failure statistics in relation to change / transformation programmes - a key statistic that is regularly quoted is - 70% of major change / transformation programmes fail - why is this? Organisations by their very nature are constantly changing - growing, shrinking, merging, adding new products or services, so why do so many change programmes fail? The Main Point: There is a lot of data freely available that details the high-level statistics in relation to change programme failures: 70% - average failure rate of major transformation programs 39% - failure rate aligned to employee resistance 63% - success rate in programs that focus heavily on positive communications 70% - success rate in programs that focus on employee enga...

Here at Applio we recently entered the Northumbrian Water Game Design Competition, which has been an interesting experience.
